The video game Guitar Hero, from Activision, is paying tribute to our very own RUSH’s 2112 album! It will be coming out this September in the Warriors of Rock Guitar Hero video series. For the uninitiated, 2112 isn’t your average rock album. It’s about the fallout from a galaxy-wide war in the year 2062, which [ ... ] ...
Favored Nations Artist, former pupil of Joe Satriani and man behind some of the Guitar Hero recordings Doug Doppler knows a thing or two about how to Get Killer Tone. Well now Doug is working on a series of DVDs to teach you how to do just that, just watch the drool-worthy video above to see some of the amps Doug has been working with, and it’s not just amps Doug has been demoing, he also has a massive arsenal of effects pedals and guitars to show you. I hadn’t heard of Brian Kahanek until I received a press release about him saying the following: ... “Brian Kahanek and his song, “Gemini” have been catapulted into the spotlight by the amazing success of the Guitar Hero II video game. “Gemini” is featured in the coveted unlock position and is now the inspiration of many aspiring guitarists, as evidenced by the numerous postings on Youtube and the countless discussions throughout social media networking channels.” ... Ok so let me start out by saying as Gibson Les Paul’s go, this one minus the headstock is a mighty fine example. The Cabernet finish on the Flame Maple top is stunning and the Zebra ‘57 Classic humbucker in the neck and Zebra Burstbucker 3 in the bridge look cool although I wonder what gold hardware would have looked like? But a signature Sammy Hagar Gibson Les Paul? Fair enough Sammy getting a custom guitar from them, and even having his own private signature template that they can
Misterio (Al Di Meola ‘The Grande Passion’) ... Misterio is awe-inspiring. Al Di is awe-inspiring. He seems so rejuvenated with such incredible inspiration at this point in his career. Double Concerto, Al’s interpretation of the Astor Piazzolla composition is absolutely astonishing and quite possibly the most expressive thing I’ve ever heard in my life. The way that piece builds is head-shakingly good, a lesson in composition to say the least ... For me, this was the album where Al Di
When it comes down to how people choose to spend their spare time, doing something valuable seems appropriate. It bugs the shit out of me when I see kids/people who are addicted to XBox 360 and similar high tech computer games. I’ll say right off the bat I have played one computer game in [ ... ] ...
I’ve found a new guitar hero and he’s not a pointy guitar wielding shredder, don’t get me wrong Josh Smith has the chops to keep up with the most seasoned fretboard gymnast but Josh plays a combination of instrumental blues, funk and jazzy pop with a kind of Hendrix feel. I was sent Josh’s new release “ Inception ” after hearing a few tracks on his MySpace page and being immediately impressed. I’m not sure I’ve ever owned a blues guitar instrumental album before, those albums
The Deception of the Thrush (ProjeKct Four ‘King Crimson The ProjeKcts’) ... Having been fortunate enough to have witnessed a mesmerizing live performance of this piece I can honestly say there’s nothing quite like it. Absolutely astonishing, jaw dropping, emotive, colourful art at it’s very best. There isn’t a single riff, hook or pentatonic lick in sight. When I watch the Crimson boys improvise I recognize just how far from greatness I am. The Deception of the Thrush won’t gather
This made me laugh so I thought I would share it seeing as it has a Guitar theme, I wondered how long it would take for Guitar Hero to infiltrate the craziness that is Christmas lights, at least they chose a good track Eric Johnson’s “Cliffs Of Dover” although I don’t like the fact that they use covers on Guitar Hero and you can tell at times that this is not Eric it is still a pretty close version. I wonder how long it takes to set up lights like this? ... Follow Guitar Noize on Twitter
